COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE NORA KENT SWEEPS LABOR AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENDORSEMENTS
Local Democratic Party Endorses Single Candidate Against Jay Bozievich
Eugene, OR - Lane County Commissioner Candidate Nora Kent has swept the endorsement processes for local labor and environmental groups. Kent’s campaign website was updated Wednesday evening with endorsements from Sierra Club, Oregon League of Conservation Voters, AFSCME 2831, SEIU 503 and 49, UFCW 555 and the local Democratic Party. The coalition against Bozievich has been drawn along traditional battle lines for the upcoming May 15 primary election.
“Since I’ve announced, the progressive movement has rallied to my cause. Our anthem is clear: It’s time for a real change. West Lane needs a commissioner that represents our values.” Said Nora Kent in a prepared statement. “My campaign is about building affordable housing, increasing rural patrols, increasing the number of healthcare providers, and bringing family-wage jobs to Lane County. We need to return democracy to Lane County through the citizen initiative process.”
In their special endorsement meeting, the Democratic Party of Lane County unanimously voted to support Kent. The May 15 Primary is a three way race, with a runoff in November. Beverly Hills has filed and David Goldberg has withdrawn. Bozievich only secured his last re-election by 75 votes.
